All Dynalon Beta protection products are manufactured in the United States using Acrylic sheet certified by an independent organization to be 100% effective in shielding against beta radiation.

A beta particle is about 8,000 times smaller than an alpha particle and that's what makes them more dangerous. Their extreme small size allows them to penetrate clothing and skin but Dynalab Corp's beta radiation protection products keep that from happening.

Beta Radiation exposure can cause burns and tissue damage, along with other symptoms of radiation sickness. Better safe than sick!

Certified plastic welder in house!

Congratulations to Dynalab Corp.'s Ryan Fitzpatrick on completing this year's DVS (German Welding Society) Plastic Welder Certification Course hosted by Wegener Welding, LLC in Chicago.

Ryan's test welds were sent to Germany for evaluation and certified as top notch placing him at the head of his class.

Ryan (shown at left in photo) is being presented his DVS identification card by Dynalab Corp. Manufacturing & Design Manager, Bill Potter. Ryan is passing on his knowledge to his co-workers in the fabrication department.

Just another day machining plastics

Dynalab Corp custom plastic fabrication department machines products for use in laboratories, industry, education and even the home. 

Plastics fill an interesting machining niche somewhere between wood and metal. Until recently there were no specific tools for plastics; wood cutting and metal cutting tools had to be tweaked to perform machining tasks on plastics. Turning, milling, boring, reaming, and threading are all easily accomplished on most plastics. There are a few basic rules to follow.

Plastics are generally poor thermal conductors and care should be taken to control heat. Some possible methods to achieve this include employing a liquid coolant and keeping spindle speeds low. Water soluble cutting fluids can work very well.

Another key element is the cutter material. We have found that un-coated cutters work best as they have dead sharp edges. It is important to put enough load on the cutting tool to create a good chip.

Feeds and speeds are combined to permit the best cut, and there are as many combinations as there are plastics. A common mistake is to feed too slowly with the spindle speed too high, causing great heat. Small diameter tools run at higher speeds than larger diameter tools. Also, try to listen to the cutter, chirping, singing, and chatter are all bad sounds.


Fixturing your workpiece properly is crucial. Top plates for drilling, toe clamps for milling, chucks & collets, and of course vices. Most plastics are non-porous which makes them excellent candidates for a vacuum table hold-down system.

What is the 5K for FA?

Hilton, NY just outside Rochester: The well-marked 5K for FA course is set on a beautifully maintained cross country trail, winding through both open and wooded areas of the Parma Town Park in Hilton, NY. It's moderately challenging with a few hills. The 5K for FA raises money for the Fanconi Anemia Research Fund in honor of Eli Lana, Hilton, who was born with the disease in 2004. He continues to amaze us every day, and we hope that by raising money for continued research he will have a long, healthy life.

Eli is the nephew of Dynalab Corp's Design & Manufacturing Engineer making this cause close to our hearts. Looking for something to do on a Saturday morning? If so please join us at the 5KforFA Saturday May 6th at Parma Town Park.

NEW Folding Spill Containment Stand

Under counter access due to fold away spill trough!

Dynalab Corp. has designed an innovative spill containment stand that is designed for bench-top use with a folding feature to allow access to drawers and other materials below. Manufactured of 3/8" High Density Polyethylene, this heavy duty spill tray will hold carboys up to 15" in diameter.

Main spill containment tray has a 2 gallon capacity and bottom spill trough will hold up to 1/2 gallon.

Carboy or other dispensing product sits upon a 16" x 12" sliding tray that moves forward for dispensing and then slides back to allow bottom spill trough to fold up and out of the way. Spill containment is possible no matter where the tray is positioned.
